Floor finish experiment with hand made tiles:

The idea was to create an alternate and cost-effective solution of floor finish, for lower-income communities. The first step of the experiment started with creating a small tile of 1.'-6" X 1' dimension. Various colours were used to create patterns and designs.

First, a frame had to be made to give the tile a shape. The frame is laid on top of a glass piece, coated with grease. a Mixture of coloured oxide with cement is mixed. The proportion of the mixture is  3 parts white cement and 1 part coloured oxide mixed with water. The consistency should not be too runny.

Coloured cement mixture is spread on the dice, to make a similar pattern on tiles. Thinly spread. It has to be spread evenly. On top of that, a coating of cement has to be spread. It will help to bind the next layers together. Coloured cement mixture is spread on the dice, to make a similar pattern on tiles. Thinly spread. It has to be spread evenly. Finally, the coating has cement. The tile has to be soaked underwater for 21 days for proper curing. The tile has to be soaked underwater for 21 days for proper curing.
